Mother's day was such a special day. It was one of the best mother's day I have had. I'm not exactly sure why but maybe it's because we have totally simplified our lives since Michael has been out of work. We had a very simple life before, but had to simplify even more since taking a cut in our budget. There wasn't a lot of money to go buy gifts this year, which was fine by me. Receiving gifts isn't at the top of my list anyways, words and actions are at the top of my list when it comes to me feeling loved.
So Sunday morning I woke up to the most amazing homemade cards with the most beautiful words. I could tell Michael and the kids took time making each one, decorating them, and filling them with meaningful words. They had also gone to the dollar store and each one of them picked out two things for me. I loved the diversity of what they chose. Camden (who LOVES anything that has to do with gifts) got me a bell so I could use it during our homeschool day, and he also got me a picture to hang on the wall of a flower. Annagrace got me a package of Jr. Mints (She loves anything food related and she knows what I love) and she also got me a light up yellow necklace. Jadon who is my most practical child got me gardening gloves and a zen garden that he said I can use when they are getting me worked up during homeschool. The thought they put into picking the goodies out meant the world to me.
After getting ready that morning, we decided to go check out the new orangutan exhibit at the zoo where we have our annual passes. It was an amazing exhibit and we enjoyed some time walking around the zoo before it got too hot. We then headed to In and Out for lunch and it was delicious! After that the rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing at home. I think I spent more time on the couch than I have in quite some time. It was wonderful. We ended the night with Michael making dinner (by this time my love tank was overflowing) and watching Forever Strong which was a GREAT movie.
It truly was a fabulous day!
