Father's Day mini sessions- FUNDRAISER

I posted this on my KandidsbyKorri blog, thought I would post it here too!

Our family is going to be participating in a service project through Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) on June27th. You can view their website here. We are really excited to serve and donate to such a great cause. In order to bring a cash donation on the day we serve, our family is going to be doing a fundraiser by offering mini photo sessions by KandidsbyKorri just in time for Father's Day!

Here are the details:

WHAT: 20 minute photography session (I have some fast photography skills!)- you may sign up for more than one 20 minute slot if you want.

WHEN: Saturday June 9th between 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m./ 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

           

WHO: Anyone who is interested in having family or individual portraits (pets are welcome too).

WHERE: Location for all sessions will take place at our home, we have many areas and fun backdrops for some great photos! Click here to view some of the photos taken at our home. I will give you our address/directions when you sign up for your session.

PRICE: 20 minute sessions will be $15 each, you will then receive an email with 3 high quality edited photos from your session (emailed within 7 days) or you may purchase the disc with all the edited prints from your session for an additional $10 (CD will be ready for pick up within 7 days of your photo shoot). All proceeds will go to FMSC. Our goal is to be able to bring a $200 cash donation on the day we serve.

Our kids will be selling water bottles and donuts to be enjoyed after your photo session. All those proceeds will also go to FMSC.

Solar eclipse

I'm a nerd. No doubt about that. I'm the type of girl that gets excited about anything weather related, space related, or anything out of the ordinary that you don't see on a daily basis. The excitement I felt over Sunday's solar eclipse was right up there with the excitement I feel watching the Olympics every 4 years (which are coming in 2 months!). The annular eclipse of this type hadn't been seen in the U.S. since 1994. I got my family excited, just not as much as I was but at least they got into it somewhat and I would say they all learned something so I'm happy with that. We made our pinhole projector sets and counted down the minutes until it started. My dad joined us for the fun, my mom's in Colorado otherwise she would have been here too. Here are some snapshots from the day!

The next time an eclipse like this will be seen from the U.S. will be in 2023! Until then, I'll have to find other things to be nerdy about. :)

Bye bye soccer season!

Anna had an amazing soccer season. She had so much fun, made great friends, learned all about the game, and became an amazing player. Sadly, her team lost every game and they didn't score one goal but if you ask Anna she says that it was about having fun and that's exactly what she did! Hopefully next year will be the year to score at least one goal. We hosted the end of season soccer party, it was super fun! Having fun is what it's all about!

They call me mom! I am so blessed. It's been a great Mother's Day!

NF update on Camden

I can't remember where we left things but Camden had his blood work and it was sent off to a lab out of state, the only lab in the U.S. that can do the specific genetic test for NF1. We were told in the beginning that our insurance would cover it which we were very surprised since they had denied it twice before because of how expensive the test is. Something wasn't sitting right with me and we did not want to be left with a $6,000 bill so I called our insurance company to hear for myself that it would be covered. After talking to them, it was clear to me that they didn't know the test was being sent out of state which means it would be out of network. So after many phone calls between three different places (our insurance company, the company that does pre-authorizations for our insurance company, and the admin assistant for the doctor) we finally got things figured out. We ended up signing up for a patient protection plan with the lab to protect ourselves from having to pay the entire bill in case our insurance declines payment. The plan cost us $500 but it gives us that peace of mind in case something doesn't go through with our insurance. So the test results should be completed by the end of this week and then we wait for our doctor to call us with the results. We are praying that everything will go as planned with the insurance company and that the $500 won't break our budget too bad. It just stinks that we are coming off of vacation (where we paid cash for everything) and the day after we got back Michael was in a fender bender and we have to pay our $500 deductable to get his car fixed. But if there is one thing we have learned over and over again is that God is faithful in providing our every need when we are faithful with our finances. I'll update when we have the results. Oh, and our insurance denied the MRI of his brain and spinal cord so that request is being sent in again. We are waiting to see how that will turn out. That's it from here.

Beach day- final full day of vacation

We had an amazing last day of vacation. We were spoiled with sunny skies all day. We spent most of the day soaking it up on the beach. What an amazing vacation this has been. Tomorrow we head home.

There were times on our vacation when I didn't feel like bringing my camera and camera bag so my iPhone acted as a great substitute. I'm loving Instagram, it can make iPhone photos look very nice.
