and so she sat...

So why on earth would I take pictures of my house when it's messy. Well, let me tell you. Fridays is the only day during the week when I don't have the kids at home. They all attend Eagle Ridge Enrichment program from 8:30 to 3:30. I enjoy every minute of my time on Fridays. I have had three so far but one of those times one of the kids was home sick so that doesn't count. The first Friday by myself I was very productive, I went grocery shopping, did laundry, cleaned up the house, prepared a nice dinner for my family, and paid bills. This past Friday, I was just the opposite. Totally unproductive and you know what, it felt SO GOOD! I had every intention of doing some chores but none of it happened. I did make it to the grocery store but didn't even put anything away, just the cold stuff. I even took a nap and that was oh so lovely. So by the time I had to leave to go pick up the kids, I got my camera out to snap a few pictures because I knew I would want to blog about it. I learned an important lesson this day, I need to give myself the freedom to just RELAX and not be productive. I need to let my body rest and just be still. I plan on doing this more often on my Fridays, maybe I'll do an every other week productive/unproductive type schedule. So here is photo evidence of my house this past Friday.

Dishwasher full of clean dishes waiting to be emptied, sink full of dirty dishes and recycling items on top of the counter ready to go to the bin. And so it sat.

Groceries waiting to be put away. And so they sat, and waited...

Now this picture does bother me a bit. This is a pile of clean clothes waiting to be folded. And what bothers me is that I used my dryer to dry them. I hardly do that anymore. I line dry just about everything these days and when I do that clothes don't sit in a heap on the floor. They go from the line to a hanger and right into the closet. But drying was quicker so it won out. I did one load before the kids left for school and after it was dry, it sat like this on the floor all day. And so it sat.

The one thing I try to accomplish each and every morning is making our bed. Afterall it does take up about 70% of our bedroom so when it is made, it makes the whole room look clean. The bed never got made on Friday. But it allowed me to climb right in after lunch and take a nap that lasted an hour and a half. And so she slept.

Our comforter laid in a heap on the rocking chair. And so it sat.

Garbage ready to go out. Luckily it wasn't the stinky kind or I would not have allowed it to just sit, and so it sat.

And so she sat, and it felt really really good.

We studied the Sabbath in Bible study this morning, and I was reminded that God commanded (one of His top 10) that we incorporate rest into our routines. So good for you my friend.
