I think the kids must sense that Fall is in the air because I have not seen them all afternoon as they have been busy playing outside. They haven't come in with red cheeks and sweat dripping down their faces, that means it's not too hot out there! I love hearing the laughter, the high pitched happy screams, and all the discussion that take place between them before they actually start playing. I love capturing candid moments like these. They didn't even know I was taking their pictures.
And while I was outside I had to snap a few pictures of the chickens. Any day now we should see one of these in their laying boxes. This one is fake. I read in a chicken book that if you put a fake egg where you want them to lay their eggs at, that's where they will lay at. We shall see if this is true.
We got a fence put up so now they can roam freely during the day. After loosing Patootie we clipped their wings so they should all be safe and sound now and nobody should be flying the coop!
We learned that they turn really red right before they start laying and Hershey is the reddest of the bunch. So she may just be the hen who gives us our first egg.
