Report Cards, homeschool style

We are in our summer schedule of homeschool right now and then starting July 1st, we will take 6 weeks off of school! We are all pretty excited. Our June schedule has been light, the kids have a specific amount of time they have to read per day, they also have a writing journal where they have to write each day for a set amount of time and then they are reviewing math facts. Pretty easy stuff. By the time they get that done along with daily chores, they have from lunch on to do whatever they want. I've also allowed sleeping in which has been great! So the other day we found this wonderful yogurt shop by our house called Zo-Yo. It has delicious frozen yogurt and they also carry dairy free frozen yogurt, which Camden is thrilled about. They had a special going where if your child brought in their report card and got all A's and B's, they could get $2.50 off frozen yogurt. The only problem is I haven't given report cards to my kids for the past 3 years because we homeschool and I always know where they are at academically so I don't need a piece of paper telling myself how they are doing in school. But, $2.50 off frozen yogurt was motivation! So I printed up a report card template and filled out three report cards. I gave honest grades, and not all of our children got straight A's. However, Anna is amazingly gifted in school and LOVES everything school and actually gets sad when we take breaks so her straight A's were well earned and much deserved. Here she is posing with her report card before heading out for yogurt!

Good job Annagrace! She sounds like how I was in school. :) I'm sure the boys did great too.
